I was so looking forward to this ever since the American Sweepstakes was announced, but... oh well. Finland can't enter. I can understand the reasons though, we have some really weird contest/gift laws over here.

Good luck to those who can enter.

Hopefully they do something nice for Australians, we've gotten the sharp end of the stick because EB Games charge $80-$90 ($100 for Collectors Edition) for new chapters on release. Now I'm not an expert on the exchange rates, but that's a BIG difference to what Americans are paying.

I really hope you're saying that in a non sarcastic way, because, although I hate my stupid country and the stupid people in it, I have some pride. We're pretty inflated but still, not 3rd world. Yet...

Zappa I wasn't being sarcastic. I live in a third world country. Here in Africa, forgotten by the rest of the world.

I understand the reasons as to why we can't enter the sweepstakes. It is however rather disappointing, even frustrating, because down here we can't enter any competitions anywhere.

And Zappa, I am the same. I hate so many things about South Africa, yet I am rather proud to be a South African. Somewhere along the line I must have been brainwashed...

So I shouldn't have entered this competition. OPPPPss~

I just assumed that us Australians would be included, and I didn't read the fine print.

Take my vote of 26358 off the list please!

Also puzzled as to why Finland wasn't included as Traveller says. But I appreciate that Denmark was included, although I'm pretty sure it has a very small player-base.

And to think that EU countries have so many things standardized but not ones such as these...

As much as I appreciate Gaile's assessment over the situation, rules and regulations don't entirely explain that very selective ensemble of European countries. They certainly got the main bulk of their European player base.

As of this moment, is ArenaNet(or NCSOFT) taking into consideration other European countries to be included in future promotions? Or are the excluded to be contended with no more than future expansions and versions of the game?

I do hope that Anet will get to the point that their contests will encompass ALL EU countries.

In that regard, the same for our fellow players in Australasia and Africa.

And this comes from a wandering Portuguese who just happens to be working in China.

Australia and New Zealand are under the european servers. America is physically closer, but general rules are similar between the two countries than they would be with America.

Well I don't know about you guys, but the part where you enter in the name of the country that you are from (the drop down menu) - it has a list of all countries that can enter. Australia and New Zealand are included in this list. I don't care if New Zealand isn't officially eligible, I'm going to enter in anyway and see what happens. ^^

When we buy GW in Australia, we're counted as European, as that's the copy of GW that EB Games get in Australia, the Euro version (which is also why the GW shop screwed up A LOT until Anet explained why)

That does not even make sense. And your choice is more than cry or licking.

I love the knee jerk reaction of people crying saying 'at least we are not sucking up' to those criticizing them. Have you ever considered that you are just wrong? Yea- cos 'sucking up' in some forum will really benefit me.

Sheez.

You know I'm right. Right from the moment you, and people like you, like to use the word 'cry' to offend everyone that has something to say opposite to your convictions.
If I'm crying, you're licking boots.

Well, then I'm sorry for doubting you, and I fully understand your situation. Unfortunately, many people in this forum like to be exaggeratedly sarcastic, and that sometimes confuses me, making me judge those who speak honestly. Sorry.

I feel the same way you do, about my 'roots', but it is unavoidable. We can't change that as much as we hate it. And the stupidest thing is that we live in a world that favors those who have more, but that takes us to another story.

Anyway, at least South Africa was included in the last magazine promotion.

They should just do WORLD competitions, it's not TOO expensive to ship stuff to people, unless that entire country doesn't have what the prize is...

If I'm crying, you're licking boots.
If you thinking that way makes you sleep at night - go right ahead.

And it is amazing you actually care about offending people, when considering made some obvious comments while completely ignorant of the facts and yet still have made no apologies.

Yes you are crying. No I am not licking boots because you obviously do not fully understand the definition.

I'm going to assume you have no idea what the words "law" or "rule" mean.

Like several people have already stated (and even Gaile herself), it's not because it's "too expensive to ship it". There are rules, regulations, laws, and whathaveyou which prevent them from being able to include certain areas.

If you find it completely unacceptable, I think you'll have more luck taking it up with your country's legal body than to bash Anet for it.

i'm from portugal and play from here as well... and i entered...

Zappa dude... this is why i'm proud of my country... because despite it is almost third world... it can still create people like you

i am quite disappointed... but Gayle's reply does clarify alot... which helps with the known country hate... thanks for that (not being sarcastic)

and crimson guy... you're just wrong... keep it cool because if this hurts you you're in the wrong place...

I thought that discussion ended over a month ago

I think there are quite a few people wondering what happened, the winners were supposed to be drawn on or around the 20th July.

and I believe the PC term is LEDC (lesser economically developed country) not third world...
IMO, and as far as I am concerned general opinion and that of the UN, neither portugal nor South Africa are "third world", SA is likely "second" but portugal is more like "first world".

Gaile, anytime you're in Malta and see a member of the government, feel free to slap him silly across the face. We GW fans will back you up, no worries.
